Yogi Ramacharaka – 4 Books (Yogi Publication Society)

$185.00

Four classic works by Yogi Ramacharaka, published by the Yogi Publication Society, Chicago – foundational texts of early 20th-century Western yoga and New Thought.

About the book

'Yogi Ramacharaka' was the pen name of William Walker Atkinson, whose books did more than almost any others to introduce yoga philosophy, pranayama and Eastern esoteric ideas to Western readers. Science of Breath in particular remains one of the most influential breathing manuals ever written.

This lot includes:

  • Mystic Christianity, or The Inner Teachings of the Master
  • Advanced Course in Yogi Philosophy and Oriental Occultism
  • Science of Breath: A Complete Manual of the Oriental Breathing Philosophy of Physical, Mental, Psychic and Spiritual Development
  • The Yogi Philosophy of Physical Well-Being

Together these four books cover the core of the Ramacharaka teaching. Science of Breath sets out the yogic breathing practices for health, vitality and mental control. The Yogi Philosophy of Physical Well-Being (often known as Hatha Yoga) covers diet, exercise and hygiene. The Advanced Course in Yogi Philosophy and Oriental Occultism presents twelve lessons on the higher teachings – the nature of mind, spirit and the Absolute. Mystic Christianity reads the life and sayings of Jesus through the lens of esoteric and yogic teaching.

The Yogi Publication Society kept these titles in print for decades in its characteristic uniform bindings, and matched groups of them are popular with collectors of early yoga, Theosophy and New Thought literature.
