The Hidden Power in Humans: Chakras and Kundalini by Paramhans Swami Maheshwarananda – an out-of-print guide to the chakras and kundalini energy.

About the book

Swami Maheshwarananda, founder of the 'Yoga in Daily Life' system, explains the chakras, nadis and the awakening of kundalini from the perspective of a living yoga tradition, with illustrations and practical guidance for safe practice.

The book describes each of the chakras in turn – its location, element, colour, symbol, deity and qualities – and explains how the energy of kundalini rises through them as consciousness develops. It also addresses the lower chakras below the base of the spine, which are rarely discussed elsewhere, and the balance between spiritual development and the psychological and physical health of the practitioner.

Illustrated with colour plates and diagrams, it is regarded as one of the clearest traditional treatments of the subject and has become difficult to find since going out of print.

About the author

Paramhans Swami Maheshwarananda is an Indian yoga master based in Europe since the 1970s and the founder of the 'Yoga in Daily Life' system, taught in centres around the world.

Ideal for: yoga teachers and students, and anyone studying chakras, kundalini and subtle-body anatomy.
